This is the story of Mary Hitchcock and Edith Van Buren, two well-bred socialites who in 1898 migrated north to the Klondike. Mary Hitchcock tells in diary form her and her friend's story of travelling north to Alaska to stake their own gold claims, the necessities they carried on the way and the outrageous adventures they had in rural Alaska and Dawson City.
