The story of the Akiak, a ten-year-old lead dog who has experienced the Iditarod and wants to win. However, on the 4th day out, she hurts her paw and has to be dropped from the race. Akiak doesn’t understand the rules of not being able to rejoin her team, so she sets out to catch up with her team, despite the inclement weather, ice hazards and people chasing her.
